I agree, Rose Under Fire had a more personal, introspective feel. I felt more horror when reading it, especially the parts about the rabbits. I still have to read Rose Under Fire, but I'm interested in your comparison of the two. Now I'm thinking I might like Rose Under Fire even more than Code Name Verity!Ayleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07639250102446794830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211090800803751472.post-36847009966606515282014-02-18T21:54:09.726-06:002014-02-18T21:54:09.726-06:00This genre is just not my thing. I didn't know the 2nd book was a companion novel. Good to know. I won't read either of them :) Great reviews!!BURIED IN BOOKShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18205451716054533728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211090800803751472.post-60754685627406545642014-02-18T17:45:48.557-06:002014-02-18T17:45:48.557-06:00I had a really hard time with Verity. But, Rose -- I absolutely loved. Not sure if that is a good thing with all the devastation, but it would make you care. I don't think I would have loved it either, but I think that is because of the dark theme. That's mostly because it was so stylistically different than other books I've read. Rose Under Fire was good as well, but it was your standard well written book whilst CNV went somewhere different.Alison Can Readhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17908868606441539344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211090800803751472.post-76102806856130981772014-02-18T09:16:06.646-06:002014-02-18T09:16:06.646-06:00"Yet, along with the misery, Wein also reveal..."Yet, along with the misery, Wein also reveals the humanity that can surface, even in the worst of circumstances."<br /><br />That makes me a little less nervous about picking these two books up Rummanah! I don't mind dark books, and both of these clearly capture the horrors of war, but I need something in there somewhere to give me a little hope or I get weighed down too heavily. Glad you enjoyed these despite the few flaws you mentioned, I can't wait to give them a try!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199685365145765394noreply@blogger.com
