I'm delighted to have Catching Jordan author Miranda Kenneally here on the blog today to discuss what things we would find in a garage sale of items from your teenage years. Be sure to stop by on Monday for my review of the book. Also, you can win a copy of an ARC of Catching Jordan over at Kari's blog, the A Good Addiction,  during the Catching Jordan tour. The only way people to enter the giveaway is through the tour. Everyone will get one entry just for entering the giveaway, but then for every tour post you comment on, you will get another entry. So be sure to stop by Kari's blog to enter!

 Miranda's Teen Garage Sale

1. A clear plastic phone that has been burned up. I had one of those phones that you could see the innards of. But one day I was chatting on the phone and playing with a candle and matches absentmindedly. (Lots of people are into fire, don’t judge!) J Anyhow, I somehow ended up burning the phone casing and the plastic turned black. It smelled terrible. Yes, I was an idiot when I was 17.

2. A bunch of mangled Jonathan Taylor Thomas (JTT) posters. He was like the Taylor Lautner when I was 13. One time I had a dream that JTT was coming to visit my house. I woke up in the middle of the night, frantic because JTT was coming over and he’d see how obsessed I was because his face covered my walls. So I ripped all the posters down and went back to sleep. My dad woke me up the next morning, wide-eyed, because of the JTT carnage spread across the carpet.

3. A green Victorian lamp with a gold chain. I thought this lamp would make me smarter and classier. I don’t think it happened.

4. A collection of movie ticket stubs and all of the Babysitters Club books. I had hundreds of movie ticket stubs hanging on the wall. Do I even need to say why the Babysitters Club books rock?!

5. Star Wars sheets: It wasn’t until college (yes, I continued using them well into my junior year) that my best guy friend told me that Star Wars sheets aren’t really the best way to get a boyfriend. I just thought they were cool! I ended up getting some new sheets after that, and gave the Star Wars sheets to a boy I babysat for, and to this day I am not sure why I believed that boys would care about my sheets. (For the record, I don’t think they care.)

Thanks for stopping by, Miranda! Oh yes, JTT from the show Home improvement does bring back memories. I loved his character on the show. I was a huge Babysitters Club book fan. It was the only thing I read in 4th grade. :)

What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though - she leads them as the captain and quarterback on her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But now there's a new guy in town who threatens her starring position on the team... and has her suddenly wishing to be seen as more than just a teammate.

JTT! I had an entire wall of my room covered in JTT posters. It was like JTT wallpaper. :P

  2. Jenny Says:

Oh my gosh JTT!!!! YEAH! I used to buy all those ridiculous Tiger Beat type magazines that had him on the cover, and it didn't matter he was tiny and I was possibly a whole foot taller than him, I just wanted him to love me:) Hilarious. I loved this book so much, thanks for sharing Rummanah and Miranda!

  3. I SO remember Johnathon Taylor Thomas! It's been so long, Home Improvement. Gosh I crushed that boy, too. Although, I didn't have any posters. I did however follow suit with The Babysitters Club. Logan was my fictional boyfriend of yesteryear!

  4. I have no idea who JTT is but I grew up on the Babysitter Club books. They were one of my favourite series when I was a kid.

  5. Sophia Rose Says:

ROFL- setting your phone on fire, waking up and tearing down your posters- oh how that triggers my own memories.

    Enjoyable posting, thanks for sharing.

This book really sounds good even for those of us who are not young in age anymore. I like the concept of a girl going after her dreams of becoming a quarterback even while keeping the balance of a typical teen life- friends, crushes, parent problems.

    Thanks for the post!

Oh my...I guess you had to stop talking? :)

    Neat post.

  7. LOL This is such a fun post. No, I don't believe that any guy would spend time thinking about the sheets!

  8. Vivien Says:

I still have my giant collection of movie ticket stubs! It's such great memories.

  9. JTT! I was obsessed with him. Although Taylor has a lot more muscles than he ever did. He's more like Justin Bieber in the youngish looks...but not nearly as smarmy.
    And love Babysitter's Club.

  10. TayteH Says:

Star Wars sheets? Really? Intersting. Second: All the movie stubs you've ever gotten? Wow. that's got to be a lot. Thanks for stopping by. :D

  11. TayteH Says:

Oh, and Love the cover by the way.

  12. LoriStrongin Says:

haha, I totally don't judge. I've managed to accidently set fire to the carpet and to my sleeve and to my hair on three separate occasions! (Nope, not a pyro, just extremely clumsy).

    Fun interview!

    Smiles!
    Lori

  13. JTT and don't forget Leo! Ah! Those were the days! And thank goodness I'm not the only one who collects movie ticket stubs. :)

Miranda is officially awesome for liking the BSC.

Also, I may be one of the few people who didn't enjoy playing with fire as a kid/teen *shudder*
