Chapters 16-20

1.  Just after Atticus is shot, Oberon has to "ninja" his way out of the shop and into Hal's Beamer (with the icky air freshener). Have you ever been in a situation where you had to "ninja" your way out and try not to be discovered? If so, what happened?

When you have a large family and four other siblings, it's hard to go or do anything unawares. ;)

2. Atticus's main goal through a large portion of the book is not only protecting Oberon, but also protecting the sword. You are now living in a paranormal world and you need a weapon! What weapon do you choose and what can it do?

I have to fan-girly once again, but I'd pick Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth. The Lasso was forged by Hephaestus. It's unbreakable, and is capable of confining even beings as physically powerful as Superman. Empowered by the Fires of Hestia, the Lasso forces anyone held by it to tell the absolute truth. The fires are said to even be able to cure insanity, as they did in the case of Ares, God of War, when he attempted to incite World War III, but renounced his plan when the Lasso showed him that such a war would destroy all life on Earth, including any potential worshipers he sought to gain from it. 3. To recharge and heal after being shot, Atticus sleeps naked, tattoos to the earth, in a patch of grass near the Civic Center in downtown Scottsdale. Where is the weirdest place you have ever slept?

I can't think of any place. I had a professor in college who had the worst monotone voice ever. It took will power and large amounts of caffeine to stay awake in his class. I still remember a guy sitting in the front row who would fall asleep and snore very loudly within the first 10 minutes of class (I'd actually timed it after the third time). The class was very small, about 15 kids and there was no where to hide and sleep. I wondered if that guy ever passed that class.

4. We finally find out some very interesting information about Granuaile and I don't know about you, but I certainly wasn't expecting to find that she's sharing her head with someone else. What about you, did you expect anything along those lines? If not, what were you expecting concerning Granuaile?

I really like Granuaile and think she will become an interesting character as the series progresses. I had a hint about her, but I thought she was just another supernatural character. While I wasn't disappointed to know that she's pretty normal besides the dual personality, I kinda wished there was more of a development leading up to the discovery. It seemed to kind of come out of nowhere. Now that I look back, I actually like how she's kinda like the 'normal' version of Atticus and serves as a great contrast to him.
5.  Laksha is a witch, a truly evil one at that for many of the things she's done in the past. However, she's supposedly seen the error of her ways. Do you think she really has? Would you be willing to trust her? Do you think Atticus is smart to have decided to trust her to help him with the "other" witches?

I love Laksha only because I don't know what she has been planning and there's something spontaneous about her. I love the fact that she is Southeast Asian and not the stereotypical woman who is passive and quiet. I'm really curious about her background and hope to get more of her back story. I don't think she has seen the errors of her ways. Not at all. She got her butt kicked and now she's looking to dust herself off and get back in the fight. If I was Atticus, I would definitely keep my eye on her.

  1. Jenny Says:

Ooooo a lasso of truth? That sounds brilliant! I kind of want one of those for normal, everyday use. It could come in extra handy:) I had no idea that was Wonder Woman's "weapon"!

  2. You did a way better job supporting the Lasso of Truth. OMG!!! I used to fall asleep in 5:30pm Microeconomics & Texas History. Both professors hated me. Obviously not realizing that their droning sucked. Kill me now.

  3. Lisa Says:

I just want to look like Wonder Women...does the outfit come with her Lasso of Truth?

  4. Andra Lyn Says:

Lol...I admit there's been a couple classes that I've wanted to nod off in. One professor would bring in a squirt gun and spray anyone who fell asleep!

I liked Granuaile too. I'm super excited that she will be a little druid like atticus soon!

I definitely agree about Laksha...there;s just something creepy/cool about her that draws you in. I really wanna see more from her!

  5. I had no idea Wonder Woman's lasso was all that. Good choice. Sleeping through class was a great way to recharge, Did the professor ever say anything about the guy sleeping all the time? I agree about Laksha, I think sheis interesting and I am waiting or her to bring it!

  6. Oh, holy cow! Professor Monotone would just kill me. I have a hard time staying awake in meetings...uhg.

And, yes to the Lasso of Truth! It would be very useful in my middle school classroom. And elsewhere, of course.

  7. Amy picked the Lasso of Truth, too!

I once had a professor who liked to hear himself speak. It's not quite as bad as one who speaks in a monotone. But close.

  8. Oh I didn't know that about the lasso of truth. Too cool. I'd still need to know how to lasso people with it. Otherwise I'm just hitting myself with the rope. At least you know I'd be telling the truth!

I've had profs like that. I don't think that is to weird to sleep in class. However snoring loudly.. too funny!

I agree Laksha does sound interesting, but not fully trustworthy!

  9. Lynn Says:

Oh no, two people who want the Lasso of truth - you'll have to split custody.
Totally forgot about the boring professor - I had a French teacher like that how can you speak French in a monotone - he must have had to practice.

    Lynn :D

  10. Cambria Says:

Bah ha ha. It's a wonder the teacher wasn't offended and make the kids wake up. That actually reminds me of this chemistry class I had to take in college that I HATED and it was a like the crack of dawn every morning. I would wear this hat with a brim on it and literally sleep the entire class away. I sat in the back though. And NO i didn't pass the class. I actually dropped it so a bad grade wouldn't hurt my good average. LOL!

  11. LoveOfBooks Says:

Ugh... I had a Professor Monotone once. And it was even more terrible because the room had no windows, and the lights were always dim for the overhead projector. It was torture - not even kidding.

  12. Anonymous Says:

I remember a class where the prof. started to repeat the previous weeks lecture practically word for word, no one was listening and one guy at the back started to snore! I still can't believe he didn't notice.
I had no idea the lasso of truth was so powerful, very cool.

  13. Yeah, riiiiiight.... It's so hard to go unnoticed in a large family. Everyone keeping tabs on you and everything!! I can imagine you got in some good trouble!!!!

I like Laksha, too! I think she's seen the evil of her ways and the way she respects Gran... really leads me to want to read more about her.

  14. I had to laugh at the story of the guy sleeping in your small class and snoring. I do that (minus the snoring) at the back when the class has comfortable seats :)

  15. hahahaa! That link to Bueller cracked me up! Now, I wonder if he passed too? Poor guy.

And Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth!!! You're brilliant.

  16. LOL! Lasso of Truth! I seriously need one of those for my kids and possibly some of my siblings. I love Granuaile, too. I think she's got so much potential for the rest of the book. Can't wait.
